## The Challenge
A clinic management company needed a real-time ERP system that could handle 50+ concurrent users without breaking a sweat. The existing solution was a clunky desktop app that nobody wanted to use.
## Why Next.js + Supabase
I chose Next.js for the frontend because of its server-side rendering capabilities and excellent developer experience. Supabase handled the backend — real-time subscriptions, authentication, and the PostgreSQL database.
### Key Architecture Decisions
- **Real-time sync**: Supabase Realtime for live data updates across all connected clients
- **Row-level security**: Every table has RLS policies so users only see what they're allowed to
- **Server components**: Heavy data fetching happens on the server, keeping the client fast
## The Result
The system now handles 50+ concurrent users with sub-second sync. Clinic staff can update patient records, schedule appointments, and generate reports — all in real-time.
